This has gotta be the good life

My heart is heavy
My heart is heavy for two reasons. One is because I am so unbelievably blessed with the people that are in my life, I couldn't ask for a better family or a better group of best friends. On the other hand, I know I have to say goodbye to them in a matter of three days. You honestly have no idea how hard that sentence was to even type. I have no idea how I am going to muster the words to say it to them, and hug them tomorrow night.

Oh, this is how it starts..
I've only really made one big move in my life. And that was my move from New York to California when I was 8. I drove across country with my mom, dad, brother, and my loving dog molly. It was crazy, long, and something I will never forget.

Two Different Plans
Planning. There is the type of plan where you map out what you want to do with your day, and who to spend it with. Then, there's the plan where you map out your life. When you want to finish college, get married, have kids, travel...the list continues. I think everyone has a road map in their head of how they want their life to go and turn out. I also know that we have no say in the matter.

Here comes the rest of your life
Well, this post is so long overdue and I'm truly sorry for that. I've had moments and thoughts that I've wanted to blog about for a couple of weeks that I just haven't been able to sit down and write about. So this blog will probably go from happy to sad, to happy, to...I don't know what else. But bear with me. I want to just write.
First off, I GRADUATED! Oh my oh my..what a wonderful feeling that is. I blogged many times about how I didn't know how I would feel the day I graduated. Well..I felt amazing. And relieved, and excited, and just happy. It was a long day filled with practice (a very long one at that) all morning, to lunch with my amazing family, to the gym..to the field..to the stage. I loved every second of that day. Everyone told me that it would be a day I would remember for the rest of my life, and they were right. I was very proud of myself because I only teared up once the whole night, and that was when my dad hugged me and he was emotional. But other than that, hugging my BEST friends and taking silly pictures with them will always be one of my favorite memories. I can officially say I am a Freshman at Northern Arizona University and I couldn't be MORE excited :) :)Summer is here and although I haven't done anything THAT exciting..I've spend it mostly with the Fab Five..I love those girls to the ends of the earth and back and I
honestly have no idea where I'd be if I didn't have them. I've been going to graduation parties, the beach, hanging out, sleeping in way too late, and laughing. Oh, and getting too sunburned for my own good. It's the beginning of a wonderful summer. Despite all the fun things I've been doing and feeling, I've let the excitement, and the stress of my job get the best of me. I've been finding myself always wanting to do something more exciting, more crazy, more...something. And I've lost track of what's really important.I feel like I've been putting God on the back burner a little bit. I haven't been talking to Him, and asking Him for help along the way. I haven't even been asking others for help. I feel like I'm sort of at a standstill. I've been he
re before and I honestly don't like it..hate it even. I know I'm not the only person who has put something worldly, or someone else, or something else before the most important person in our lives. It's a constant struggle, because you want to live your life but you know there's already a plan for you. I've been having to see many people that I've had so much faith and hope in, fall. It makes me so beyond sad and at the same time..makes me think. I think about how strong they used to be in their walk and how suddenly they just aren't anymore. How is it so easy? Because we're putting things before God. Duh..why even ask such a thing.I was watching a show with my grandparents a few nights ago called the Breakthrough Mansion. This show was incredible. It was heartwrenching and overwhelming. They took about 10 people who have been through horrible childhoods, addictions, and other various problems and they work with them for a week to let go of all the anger, shame, and hurt they've been feeling. I wish I could be apart of something like that. I mean, to see them change and to seem them become happy and feel loved...that's gotta be how God feels when one of His children realize there's someone who loves them, or when they realize that all the things they're doing aren't worth it when there's Someone so much better.
I have many goals for this summer. I want to make it the best I can because I just feel like this is my last one, well, for this part of my life anyway. I want to hang out with everyone that means the most to me and I want to do something worthwhile. Most importantly, I want to prepare myself for college by making God my priority. I feel as though for every good thing that happens to me this summer, it will be because of Him. Thank God for all of His many blessings <3

It's all beginning to end
Then, we headed towards the venue but before that, a firetruck picked us up. YES, a firetruck took all of us to our Senior Prom..legit? Oh you know it.
Next, was Disney Grad Night. May 12th-May 13th. I'm not going to lie, I was a little afraid that I was going to be WAY too tired, and end up not having that much fun. But it was the complete opposite. Haha.
Before we went to the school, Hannah, Amanda, and I went to Starbucks to get some caffeine. We each got drinks that had 4 shots of expresso in it..umm yeah. Then on our way we had some 5 hour energy drinks, so basically we were wired. Hahah. But this truly lasted me all night long. The bus ride was fun, happy, and so enthusiastic. Bus number 5 killed it. Just saying. My group that I was with all night was fantastic, and was all about 20 people. So going on rides was insane and fun..because we all managed to stay together. The first ride we decided to go on (which everyone else did too) was Space Mountain. We literally were trampled from all the people but was it worth it? Oh yeah. We also hit the dance floors through out the night which was also incredible. Never thought I would go dancing at 2 in the morning in Disneyland. BUT I did.
I was going strong until about 4:15 am..then I started to cras
h. I ended up taking a couple of twenty minute power naps and then finally headed back to the bus at about 5:15. You could say that after I showered and ate something, I crashed at about 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. Disney Grad Night=COMPLETE success. Thanks to my lovely group for making it so amazing :)
I have seven school days, and twelve full days until I graduate. I know I've posted how ready, and excited, and also about how I can't believe it..but at this very moment..those emotions are at and all time high. My brain literally can't wrap my brain around it. But I know that I will have these memories to look back on forever..and I'm so glad that they were amazing ones. :)

Never, Neverland
6 weeks. 44 days. However you look at it, Graduation is coming...full speed ahead. I can't begin to explain to you how many mixed emotions I've had through the course of this year. It's been one of the toughest in high school, and one of the greatest. I've seen people change and hurt and lose themselves. I've seen people rejoice, gain sight of who they are, and get back on track. I've seen people make huge decisions that have altered the course of their life, myself included. Though this journey has been rocky, I've come out of it feeling amazed. Of course, there are many things that didn't go exactly as planned..but what fun would that be? Things happen for a reason and that is one thing I know for certain.
niversity in 4 months. I'm LIVING in Arizona in 4 months. You can say that I am beyond excited. And part of that is that I have an amazing roommate that I have only known for 4 months, but I already feel like she's my best friend. I know that being 500 miles away from home is going to be difficult, but having adventures, talks, laughs, and bible studies with Madelyn will make it all worthwhile. I'm blessed that God literally put her in my life and He was the reason for us meeting. :) Friday, April 8, 2011
Hello, My name is HUMAN
You know what I've been thinking about a lot lately? How you can never truly please everyone, you can't always be accepted, and you won't always be liked. Now..I'm definitely a victim of being upset when I hear people talk about me or read something terrible written about me...but why should they matter? They shouldn't. And they don't. Day by day, a million trillion compliments could be thrown at you and you could only receive one bad insult, and what do you remember when you're lying in bed at night? The one bad insult, of course.
On these blogs I like to write about things that float through my head and things that I am currently going through. Recently, I have one hundred percent realized who my true friends are. The ones that I know for certain are going to be there for me even when I'm 500 miles away. But realizing that there are only a handful of these friends, I am left thinking about the handful that only think negatively about me. I'm trying as hard as I can to not let that affect me. Other people's opinions and little rude comments should not affect us. I'm not saying that because I am voicing this problem, and choosing to forget about them will suddenly solve the way others make me feel...but it will help. I have people in my life who care about me and love me. What more could I possibly need?
When it comes down to it, the world is going to shoot down good ideas, tell you that you aren't worth it, that you aren't beautiful, etc. But they don't matter. Everyone is given a label..some see you as a good person, a nice person, a Christian, a jerk, judgemental, self-righteous, and so on. Of course we mess up, and fail, and on occasion lose sight of who we really are which causes people to assume, but those people want to see us fail, and they want to see us hurt. We're HUMAN. It's a sick, twisted thing..but it somehow makes us feel better when someone else is in pain. That label that you are given, whether you know about it or not, does not matter. God sees me the way I am and they way we are, and that is the only label I want to pay attention to. Seeing it this way is better than being bothered with what everyone else thinks. Be the bigger person, and don't give people labels..you have no idea how it might affect them.
"Afterall, we're only human.."

Gives me hope
SO, this post is titled 'Gives me Hope' because I went to Palm Springs a couple of Saturday's ago to visit one of my very wonderful, amazing friends, Cara, from Work Crew. She was raving about this website/book that is entitled 'Gives me hope', it is like FML for optimistic people...or so it says on their website. Haha. Anyway, reading through those not only gives me chills, puts a smile on my face, and tears well up in my eyes..it made me think of ALL the beautiful things and people that give me hope in my own life. I get it
So...I'm sick again. Haha. This is the third time this year (and it's only been 2011 for a month and a half). So I've come to the realization that God has to be telling me to slow down, and rest. I do admit that I have been going and going and going a lot lately but I didn't really realize that my body does need rest, more than I give it. I'm deciding to go to bed earlier, not go on the computer as often, and every little down time I have will spend relaxing with my big Man upstairs. It shalll be wonderful :)
emselves, who they hang out with, and so on. But that's obviously not fair. That's not how we would want people to think of us so why on earth would we do that to others? I heard someone say how annoying this one kid in my english class was, and I too, agree that sometimes this person can be frustrating, but it's not fair..because I know something about this person that it is eating them alive but they don't show it. That is a STRONG person if you ask me. To hold their head high despite everything their going through...I envy people like that. They amaze me. Basically, what I'm trying to say is wait until you know someone's full personality and life before you make your opinions..they could be dealing with something way beyond anything we could fathom.Monday, February 7, 2011
You're still alive
Where does time go?! I mean, honestly. It's been pretty much a decade since I've written a blog. And for all my lovely amazing followers out there, I apologize. I've been so lost in time. I really didn't think my Senior year would go anywhere near as fast as it has been going. Not only that, but high school. I feel like I was JUST a little bitty Freshman. Anyway..that's besides the point.I want to talk about time though. Because even though I feel like so much time has been taken away from me in the last few weeks..I've been given so much more to replace it. I was given the chance to spend amazing times with my YoungLife family last weekend, and get to spend a weekend away in the mountains with God. How greater could it get? I also feel as though I was tested last week in big ways. To be a better person, to not let stress get the best of me, to be a great leader despite being tired, and for getting my priorities in order. It was a tough but great week all the same. I feel as though all in this time I mended things. I mended friendships that I so dearly missed, and I put myself back together.
I know the phrase "I put myself back together" sounds a bit strange, but that's how I felt for a while...strange. Like I wasn't myself. I didn't feel happy when I should have. I didn't get excited when I should have. and I didn't appreciate the wonderful things around me, like I should have. That may sound depressing, but it's honest. I think we all feel broken and lost at times. And we all handle that differently. For me, I put on a face or a mask if you will, that I was still put together. But that's not how I should act. When I feel broken, or sad, it lets me know that I'm human. We're all human. But I think we're also broken for a reason. I wrote a poem type thing a while ago...and I think I'll type it out on here because I think it sums up what I'm trying to say :) here it goes...
You gave me life the day I was born, but You gave me love the day I followed. People and
things can be so messed up..the dirty looks, mean comments, the gossip, and heartbreak. But it is the pain that makes something worthwhile..For we are all clay pots with broken pieces from being dropped. If we choose to walk away from the pieces lying on the floor, we miss part of ourselves. But if we try to pick up the pieces on our own, we end up with cuts and scrapes.
It is the decision within us to follow You or to walk on without part of us. You are the candle in the pot. You help us shine, even with the bumps and bruises, cuts and scrapes. For if we didn't have these openings, Your light would not shine. You are the light in the dark that guides me.
Although I do no know how to put myself together, I believe You have the ability to do so. Soon I will know the reasons and answers behind life's mystery..
But for now, I stand before You as a broken clay pot with broken pieces in my hands, waiting to be fixed...

I want to spend some time at Your feet, take me..
Okay, so. Being sick/lying in bed for 3 days straight is horrible. Specially for someone as social as I am. BUT. It was somewhat enjoyable to just hang out, watch movies, learn about God, and have some alone time to think.Sunday, January 23, 2011
18 Years In..
When I woke up Friday morning (my birthday) I was first overwhelmed with texts, facebook posts, and all that. Then my mom gave me a huge birthday hug, near tears, because I'm a grown up! THE
That night I had all my best friends over for dinner. We laughed (a lot), ate dinner, played Just Dance 2, had cake and ice cream, and opened presents. They all know me amazingly well because my pres
My future roommate also told me she sent me a package in the mail for my birthday! Ah, I've known her for about a month and I already feel so close to her. She's amazing! :)
I head to bed after bragging to my parents about all the nice things people said in my cards, and all the presents I had received, at about one o'clock in the morning. I thought hey? It's saturday. I'll get to sleep in! But actually...I was woken up/tackled by Madeline and Kendal that morning as they threw confetti at me saying "Happy Birthday!!!" at about 7:30 am. I sounded like a man because I am getting over a cold, so needless to say--funniest thing EVER. They took me out to breakfast, in my pjs, at Mimi's Cafe. Then we went to the park and just sat in the sun talking about life. They are amazing..and I love you guys so much! :)
Today is Sunday and I finally get to celebrate with my family! We're going to do the whole dinner, presents, and cake thing. But more importantly, I'm excited to spend it with people I adore.
I didn't need any presents or anything. Because I truly got the BEST gift of friends and people I love. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the best birthday I've had to date. You guys are more than amazing and I'm SO beyond blessed to have you in my life. Thank you thank you thank you!!
